A familiar name is quietly expanding… and we’ve got questions.
We were cruising through Rawai the other day — past the usual suspects and juice bars — when a new sign caught our eye. Right where the old TropicLook offices used to be (next to the unmistakable yellow Krungsri bank), a fresh little monkey logo was peeking out from behind a construction tarp.

Blu Monkey’s moving in.
No big launch campaign. No ribbon-cutting post on Facebook. Just a quiet takeover of a prime corner in Rawai — and honestly, that’s kind of their style.
But then it got weirder.
🕵️♀️ There’s Another One?
A little online sleuthing later, and boom — we found a second Blu Monkey coming soon, this time in Nai Harn.
This one’s called Blu Monkey Boutique Nai Harn Beach, and it’s a very small, very design-forward eight-room hotel dreamed up by Phuket architect Mr. Max.
“Useful in every molecule,” the brand says — a nod to Max’s signature approach of making compact spaces feel cool, intentional, and full of character.
There’s a tiny pool, a creative café space, and a strong chance it’ll become a mini hangout hub once it opens.
📍We haven’t figured out exactly where it is yet — if you do, DM us on Instagram. First one to spot it gets a free coffee, no joke.
💡 So What’s Blu Monkey?
If you haven’t stayed at one, Blu Monkey is a Thai-born boutique hotel brand under the Attitudestay group. They’ve been quietly growing around Phuket (Town, Bangtao, Samkong), and now they’re inching their way toward the south.
The vibe?
- Clean, playful design
- Self-service check-ins
- Free coffee and co-working corners
- Beds that are actually comfy (bless)
- Budget-friendly prices — ฿900–฿1,700/night depending on location and season
They’re not trying to be flashy or luxurious. They’re trying to be easy, and for a lot of travellers, that’s exactly the point.

👀 Why It’s Worth Watching
We love seeing thoughtful Thai brands expand — especially when they bring something useful to a neighborhood without overdoing it. Rawai and Nai Harn both have big energy shifts depending on the season, and a place like Blu Monkey fits right into that rhythm.
Expect a mix of:
- Thai weekenders from BKK
- Freelancers or mini-retreaters
- Locals needing a quick getaway without leaving the island
It’s small scale, but we’re into it. And we’ll be keeping tabs on both locations once they open.
