From authentic Neapolitan wood-fired classics to Roman alla pala and Detroit-style deep dish — the best pizza on the island, found and tested by locals.
Internationally recognised and consistently cited as the best pizza in Thailand.
Peppina is the real deal. Certified by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana – the global body that protects authentic Neapolitan pizza – they follow the rules precisely: only water, sea salt, flour, and yeast in the dough, with a minimum 24-hour fermentation using high-quality Caputo flour. The result is a crust that’s gloriously chewy in the middle, blistered and crispy at the edges, and messy in the best possible way. The signature “La Peppina” margherita with creamy buffalo mozzarella and sweet piennolo tomatoes is the one to start with. Book ahead — this is consistently the hardest table to get on the island.
Two more consistently excellent pizzerias that our community comes back to again and again.
The Vaiano family behind Da Moreno do things properly — they make their own cheese and cold cuts in-house, which sets the flavour apart from most competitors. The signature Pizza Bufalina uses fresh buffalo mozzarella from the Vaiano Dairy right here in Phuket. The calzone alla bruno with Parma ham, buffalo mozzarella, and rocket is a standout. Five locations across the island mean it’s rarely far away, and the price-to-quality ratio is hard to beat.
Pomodoro is the kind of local favourite that doesn’t shout about itself, it just quietly serves excellent pizza and homemade pasta, night after night, at prices that make you feel like you’ve found a secret. Located away from the main Kata Beach drag, it’s worth making the effort to find. The wood-fired oven produces consistently well-charred bases, and the pasta dishes are made fresh. A go-to for families and regulars living on the south of the island.
More standout spots picked by the Phuket Community team — each one doing something a little different.
A gem tucked into Old Town serving wholesome Italian fare in a charming, intimate setting. The menu covers a wide range of pizzas including fresh seafood toppings — but the real talking point is the pepperoni pizza finished with spicy honey, which is as good as it sounds. One of the better reasons to make the trip into Phuket Town for dinner.
Phuket’s only dedicated Roman-style pizza, and a genuine institution since 2016. The rectangular alla pala slices use a 72-hour fermentation and low-temperature bake that creates a crust with a paper-thin crispy exterior and a pillowy, cloud-like interior. Six rotating flavour combinations – including gorgonzola and walnut, and pumpkin cream with speck. Come at aperitivo hour (5–8pm) for one cocktail plus two slices at ฿400. Two locations: Kata Beach and Nai Harn.
If you’ve never tried Detroit-style pizza, MODO is your introduction to it – and it’s a good one. Thick, airy squares baked in steel pans with a beautifully caramelised, slightly crunchy edge and a soft, fluffy interior. The playful blue-and-red robot decor sets the casual tone. There’s nothing else like it in Phuket, which alone makes it worth a visit from anyone who takes their pizza seriously.
Over 40 years on Nanai Road under the same name and the same owner – that kind of longevity says everything. Run by Mr. Mario, originally from Sorrento, La Capannina has fed generations of Patong regulars with cold fish appetisers, handmade pasta, and expertly crafted pizza. The kind of place where you’re greeted like a regular from the second visit. A piece of Phuket history.
Located in Porto de Phuket next to Boat Avenue, Little Roma takes a convivial approach to Italian dining – full menu, reliable pizza, good wine list. The standout is the Pad Ka Pao Gai Pizza, a white pizza that playfully incorporates Thai basil chicken flavours into an Italian format. The Diavola with spicy salami is the safer crowd-pleaser. Great choice for the Laguna/Bang Tao expat crowd.

Thin-crust, wood-fired pizzas with over 40 topping combinations — margherita starts at ฿200. Popular with Rawai and Chalong locals. Vegan options available. The truffle pizza with sausage, cherry tomatoes, and rocket is the one to order.
Thin crust, wood-fired, at seriously competitive prices — the go-to for locals in Rawai who don’t want to drive to Kata or Old Town. Italian Executive Chefs from five-star hotels on the island have called it the closest to authentic they’ve found in Phuket.
A quirky, upmarket Italian in Old Town with a Neapolitan pizza that leans modern — pillowy cornicione, serious wine list, and a terrace that feels like a little Italian piazza. Book ahead, especially on weekends. The truffle burrata prosciutto pizza is the showstopper.
Stylish Italian restaurant and bar beside the lake at Boat Avenue — great views, a wide menu with both white pizza and tomato-base options, and a reliable all-round Italian kitchen. A popular choice for North Phuket expat families.
A casual Italian near Rawai Pier that real Italians on the island swear by. Buy one get one free pizzas on Sundays and Mondays, an overwhelming menu of topping combinations, and a wood-fired crust with excellent texture. The “5 Meat” pizza is the signature order.
Phuket has a surprisingly deep pizza scene — more than any list can cover. If there’s a place you love and think the community should know about, we want to hear from you. We update this list regularly based on reader recommendations.
